Recognizing that demographic information about a podcast’s listeners is often the missing dataset for show creators, podcast hosting company Blubrry is making several updates to its audience research platform. Designed for hosts to send to members of the public, the company says the tool can be used by producers to develop their shows.

Blubrry has updated the survey quiz and the way results are displayed for the podcaster – these are now in the new podcast stats audience section in the dashboard.

Podcasters can find the survey link in the audience section of the podcaster stats dashboard to share with their subscribers. The quick 12-question survey includes information on age, listening habits; show what you like and what you don’t like; and the ability to leave a private or public (social media) comment on the show.

“We are 100% focused on providing useful insights to podcast hosts to help them grow their show with digestible data that allows them to get combined insights in one place,” said RawVoice CEO / Blubrry, Todd Cochrane. “We have an aggressive development plan to build on what we’ve already released.”

The updated survey is available now, with results available via CSV export. Blubrry says a graphical summary of the listener survey results will appear in the audience tab of the podcast’s stats section in the coming weeks. Blubrry says podcasters can use the results — along with podcast statistical data — to accurately represent their show to advertisers.

Blubrry rolled out its new Podcast Stats UI last month. The company says that in addition to adding new data points, it will also provide the statistical information it collects for shows in a much simpler format for producers. Blubrry said the new features are the “first of many” updates to its podcast stats in the most comprehensive stats update in the company’s 16-year history.
