As you may have read in our previous coverage, Q Voice News is a member of the groundbreaking News Is Out, a one-of-a-kind collaboration between other local LGBTQ+ news leaders.

This collaboration can be a game-changer for our LGBTQ+ community, when we have so much at stake.

News Is Out is the first collaboration of its kind to focus on business sustainability for LGBTQ media and producing great journalism.

Over the past few years, queer publications have closed and our community coverage has declined. News Is Out’s goal is for us to be a business model for LGBTQ publications to thrive.

News Is Out was announced in November by the Local Media Foundation, the programming arm of the Local Media Associationa media trade association that focuses on business sustainability for local news outlets.

News Is Out is the sixth news industry collaboration incubated by the Local Media Association and the Local Media Foundation.

Google News Initiative donated $200,000 which will be used to launch and build the News Is Out infrastructure, including a national website and newsletter, a project manager and audience surveys.
